The Bossa Nova Project was founded by Brazilian native singer-songwriter/pianist, Isabella Mendes, inspired by the original Bossa Nova movement which took place in Brazil in the 60’s. At that time, Brazil was booming culturally, socially, economicall,y and financially.
With elements of classical, samba, and jazz, Bossa Nova brought people together through music. There were no specific bands, but a collaboration of musicians coming together, with no pretense, or ego, but with a genuine interest and love for the beautiful music that is the Bossa Nova. Musicians such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nara Leao, Marcos Valle, Carlos Lyra, and many others would get together at friend’s house for a whole afternoon, to play and write music. The songs were about, love, the beach and life experiences. The Bossa Nova Project was created with that same intent to share happiness and love through music.
