The Industrial Heritage of River Street

THE NEW HAVEN PRESERVATION TRUST

Ranging in age from the 1870s to the World War I period, River Street retains one of the densest concentrations of industrial architecture in New Haven. See the factories that produced a wide variety of local products (steam engines, boilers, plumbing fixtures, nails, and even automobiles!) with Connecticut historian Bruce Clouette, co-author of the National Register of Historic Places designation report on the River Street Historic District.

TOUR MEETING PLACE: Criscuolo Park at the corner of River & James Streets
