ARTIST SERVICES

Hospitality Assistants

Hospitality Assistants are responsible for the organization, delivery, set-up and strike of artist green room food, beverages, and other hospitality items. Hospitality Assistants also set up and strike post-show receptions, and act as hosts throughout these events.

Requirements: Must be organized and have the ability to safely lift 25 lbs. Able to set-up/strike food quickly, cleanly, efficiently, and unobtrusively; and have a flair with flowers, food, and fun. Food service experience preferred.

Artist Driver

Artist Drivers meet the transportation needs of artists (and artist’s gear), members of Festival staff, and VIPs, using Festival-rented vehicles. Transportation needs range from NYC airport pick up and drop-offs to local transportation between hotels and venues.

Requirements: Drivers must be at least 25 years of age and have a clean driving record. Drivers must be able to drive a 15 passenger van and have a general knowledge of the Greater New Haven area. Drivers are expected to assist with the loading and unloading of materials, luggage, and equipment. A friendly demeanor and an easy-going personality are big plusses!

AUDIENCE SERVICES

House Management Captain

The House Management Captain is responsible for front-of-house management and operations at all Festival events – free, ticketed, indoor, and outdoor.

The House Management Captain will develop a master schedule and HM training materials, hire, train, and supervise a House Management team of 7-10 people, and oversee their scheduling, job performance, and payroll.

Requirements: Must have management or supervisory experience in theatrical house management; excellent customer service skills; and solid computer abilities.

House Managers

Provide on-site house management services at Festival indoor and outdoor events, overseeing all aspects of audience experience and safety, a team of volunteer ushers, and communications between front-of-house and backstage.

Requirements: Theatrical House Management experience required. Must be calm and pleasant under pressure; genuinely welcoming, and always mindful of the safety and comfort of patrons. Must have excellent customer service skills, and be comfortable managing crowds. Must have the ability to manage teams of volunteer ushers.

Ticket Sellers

Provide ticketing and other customer support services to Festival audience members, both in person, and by phone. Sell tickets on site at Festival performances and venues.

Requirements: Theatrical box office experience strongly preferred. Festival ticket sellers will work with OvationTix software to process ticket orders, and must have good to excellent computer skills. Must be calm and pleasant under pressure, and able to quickly and efficiently move patrons through the ticketing process, without compromising excellent, friendly customer service. Festival ticket sellers will be required to read and retain large amounts of information about Festival events and schedules, in order to answer customer questions.

Tour Coordinator/Info Center Assistant

The Tour Coordinator is responsible for assisting with communication and coordination with tour providers; managing the registration of tour-goers and capacity issues as necessary; setting up at the starting point(s) of tours; welcoming tour goers, talking about Festival events, and introducing tour leaders. The Tour Coordinator will complete an event report at the conclusion each tour.

Many tours originate from the Festival’s Info Center. During the times before, after, and between tours, the Tour Coordinator will assist with the management of the Festival’s Info Center, including set-up, tear-down, staffing, materials distribution, merchandise sales, and providing coverage when the Festival’s Volunteer Coordinator cannot be present.

Requirements: Must have transportation. Tours begin in a variety of locations in and around New Haven, and the Tour Coordinator will need to be self-sufficient in getting to and from tour locations, carrying signage and supplies. Must have an outgoing personality and ability to speak before large groups of people, and manage crowds. Ability to lift and carry signage and materials, good navigational skills, and adequate skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Outdoor work required.

PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS

Audio Crew

The Festival Audio Crew works under the direction of the Audio Supervisor to install, operate and strike audio systems at all Festival venues and events.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current audio systems, some experience of live mixing; and the ability to work with artists and the general public. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Lighting Crew

The Festival Lighting Crew works under the direction of the Lighting Supervisor to install, operate, and strike lighting systems at all Festival venues and events.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of current lighting equipment, ability to hang and cable a plot under supervision; and basic board programming skills. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Operations Crew/Drivers

Operations crew members work under the direction of the Operations Manager in the safe and timely installation, strike, and storage of a broad array of infrastructure elements, equipment, and signage; and the distribution and retrieval of materials, collateral, and supplies.

Requirements: Hardworking and strong. Must be able to safely lift 50 pounds.
Good communication skills, flexible, good humored. Three of the four crew members must also be drivers, age 25 or over with a clean driver’s license, comfortable driving a cargo van and mid-sized box truck.

Outdoor Event Crew/Carpenters

The Greens Crew work under the Outdoor Tech Director to install, maintain and strike all Festival scenic elements and properties.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of theatrical carpentry, ability to use hand tools and some shop tools under supervision. Must be able to safely lift 50 lbs.

Project Manager

Project Managers are the primary liaisons with artists on the ground in New Haven. Primary duties include managing contract fulfilment for assigned artists and speakers on behalf of Artist Services and Production Departments.

Competency in both Company Management and Venue Coordination / Stage Management required. Must have strong organizational and communication skills.

VIDEOGRAPHY

Video Interns

The Video Interns will assist the Festival Videographer in recording and editing video content, and preparing it for broadcast through multiple media, including preparing DVDs and uploading material to the Festival’s website and other commercial websites.

Requirements: Must have basic knowledge of video camera operation, ability to use Mac audio/video editing systems, and a basic understanding of most commonly used video uploading protocols.
