Vending Opportunities

Celebrate with the Arts and Ideas Festival on the New Haven Green for their 15th Year!

Vendor Applications now being accepted!

Click here to download a vending form.

The International Festival of Arts and Ideas has many opportunities for licensed self-contained food vendors, and this year we are opening it up to arts and crafts vendors as well. Vendors are a large part of the outdoor events on the green and we would like to have as large of a variety of vendors as possible.

Vending Information

  • Temporary Vendors Pass.
Contact the New Haven Department of Buildings and Permits at 200 Orange Street, or call 203.946.8388 (M-F, 9:00AM - 1:00PM Only). All vendors must have this permit posted on site. Note: It takes about 2 weeks to get this permit so allow enough time to obtain this permit before the first week in June.

  • Health Department License (for food vendors only.) Contact the New Haven Department of Health at
    54 Meadow Street, New Haven
or call 203.946.8174 for more information. Fees for this permit are $55 per day.
  • Certificate of Insurance. Comprehensive General Liability coverage for not less than $1,000,000.00. The International Festival of Arts & Ideas must be named as an additional insurer for the length of vending time.
  • Sales and Use Tax Permit. To obtain contact the Department of Revenue Services at 860.297.5880 or visit them online at http://www.ct.gov/drs/

Street Passes Each vendor will be supplied with one vehicle pass for access to Temple Street. Please plan trips to your tents carefully to avoid congestion.

Parking To be considerate to the churches' requests, there will be absolutely no vendor parking at the churches.

Available Dates and Times

We are excited to announce our main stage headliners. Below are the concerts that are to take place on the Elm Street Stage located on the lower green by Elm Street between Temple Street and Church Street. The International Festival of Arts and Ideas takes pride in who they book and look to draw a very diverse crowd from all over CT. Consequentially we hope our vendors are equally diverse and will play a big part in enriching the community's experience throughout the festival.

Featuring Blind Boys of Alabama from 7:00pm - 8:30pm
The Blind Boys of Alabama first started singing together in 1939, and have flourished as the premier purveyors of gospel music for over seven decades. Their close three-part harmonies and gutsy improvisations on over 60 albums have received multiple Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. The group also performed on the recent PBS special "In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement" hosted by President and Mrs. Obama.
Set Up 12:00pm
Breakdown 9:00pm
Must be off the street by 10:00pm

Sunday, June 20, 2010
Featuring La Excelencia from 6:00pm - 7:30pm
A 12-piece salsa orchestra formed in New York City in 2005, La Excelencia's music is both socially conscious and contagiously danceable. Their style of salsa, known as "salsa dura," is characterized by the driving rhythms of the bongos, congas and timbales; the blaring brass of the trombones and trumpets; and the call and response of the vocalists.
Set Up 12:00pm
Breakdown 8:00pm
Must be off the street by 9:00pm

Saturday, June 26, 2010
Featuring Dan Zanes from 7:00pm - 8:30pm
The latest project by Dan Zanes & Friends, 76 Trombones, embodies the Festival's theme of "shared experiences", delving into a vital part of America's musical heritage and introducing a new generation of kids to classic Broadway songs that everyone knows and loves. Bring the whole family for the Festival Grand Finale, featuring Zanes and his band plus a youth chorus, African drumming and dancers, and a parade of dozens of local trombone players from across the state of Connecticut!
Set Up 12:00pm
Breakdown 9:00pm
Must be off the street by 10:00pm
