ABOUT THE COMMUNITY CULTIVATOR AWARD
The Sharon M. Clemons Community Cultivator Award was created in 2021 in honor of the late Sharon M. Clemons. It aligns with the Festival’s expansion of the definitions of art that we celebrate on our stages, and it champions community. It awards the efforts of people who often go unrecognized and highlights their accomplishments.
Ms. Clemons was a community cultivator. Using her salon as a beacon of service. She was an organizer, mentor, art collector, community resource, leader, and hair artist, and did so selflessly. Her reach extended beyond the walls of her salon into the Greater New Haven community and throughout Connecticut.
The Sharon M. Clemons Community Cultivator Award will honor creatives who cultivate change by uplifting others through their connection to the arts or humanities.
