Shannon Mykins (she/her) fell in love with the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in 2011, when she sat with thousands of strangers on the New Haven Green in the pouring rain to hear The Silk Road Ensemble and Yo-Yo Ma perform. Dedicated to social and economic justice, Shannon began her career as an AmeriCorps VISTA member and worked with the Montana Department of Health and Human Services, Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut, and Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven before joining Arts & Ideas in 2017.
Shannon attended Thomas Nelson Community College and the College of William and Mary, where she earned a BS in neuroscience in 2009. In addition to her work with Arts & Ideas, she is an active member of the AmeriCorps Alum Connecticut community and is a Kingian Nonviolence Level 1 Certified Trainer. Her favorite movie is The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and she lives in the Wooster Square neighborhood of New Haven with her dog, Levon, and child, Charles.
