Tom Griggs served on the Festival’s board of directors for five years before joining the staff as a co-director and director of development in 2014. He is proud of the community engagement activities he supports, highlighting New Haven's culture while bringing together diverse communities to experience visionary thought leaders and world-class artistic talent.
Prior to the Festival, Griggs oversaw corporate and foundation giving for Yale-New Haven Hospital and enjoyed a second career in real estate. Before that, he worked in banking for 20 years in various branch and management positions at People’s Bank—including as director of community relations and corporate contributions—and as a manager of Telephone Banking and vice president of People’s Corporate University.
Tom has served as a member, chair, and president of numerous boards, including those of the Gateway Community College Foundation, The Connecticut Alliance for Arts Education, the National Governance Committee of The Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network, Creative Arts Workshop, New Haven Preservation Trust, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Long Wharf Theater, Shubert Theater, and Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce. Tom has served as a Mayor’s Appointee on the Cultural Affairs Commission for the City of New Haven and is an associate fellow of Yale University’s Branford College. He holds a BA from the University of Connecticut School of Business, and an MBA from the University of New Haven.
