Elm City Cycling's bike tours are always a popular part of the Festival: see the sights, explore trails and paths, and experience a piece of local history!

A few important notes

  • Properly fitted helmets are required to ride.
  • There are rides for all skill and experience levels. Check each tour listing for a difficulty level.
  • Bring a bike, properly fitted helmet, water, food, and sunscreen.
  • All participants must sign a release form before participating on the tour.

All tours meet by the Festival Center on the New Haven Green.

Bike Tour: Food Haven the Bike Tour

Prepare your tastebuds for an epicurean extravaganza. Ride to food destinations featured in the documentary Food Haven - including Da Legna, Geronimo, Thali and Miya's - and meet local entrepreneurs, chefs, and culinary artists that make New Haven a true Food Haven.

The Ride is immediately followed by a free screening of the film at the Whitney Humanities Center as part of NHdocs: The Fourth Annual New Haven Documentary Film Festival.

Bike Tour: East Coast Greenway

Farmington Canal North Trail

Travel North from New Haven to Cheshire and learn about plans to connect the former rail trail to Northampton, MA. Visit historic Locks 12 and 14 before returning to New Haven. A representative of East Coast Greenway will lead the ride and provide information and background on the trail.

Bike Tour: New Haven's 8th Sister City, Changsha China

Celebrate New Haven's 8th Sister City, Changsha, China. Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, is known for its spicy, delectable food and 3,000 year cultural history. Learn how the relationship between Changsha and New Haven was established, how it has developed, and what the future holds for these two intellectual centers.

Tour stops include Yale-China Association, School of Management calligraphy, the Foote School, and a special “meet and greet” with Hong Kong artists at 1156 Chapel Street.

Shoreline Greenway Trail volunteers are at the helm of this ride to bring you the latest updates on the mission to build a 25-mile trail. Ride the East Haven leg of the trail in the spectacular Farm River State Park and conclude at Cosey Beach for ice cream and Q&A.

Travel South on the East Coast Greenway to Silver Sands State Park in Milford. This section of the East Coast Greenway incorporates the Vision Trail, the Harbor side trail, the Long Wharf Nature Preserve, and the Savin Rock Trail.
