Make a Legacy Gift Using your IRA or 401(k):

  • If you are 70 ½ years of age, you can instruct your IRA administrator to make a distribution of up to $100,000 directly to the International Festival of Arts & Ideas.
  • At any age, you can call your IRA or 401(k) administrator - or even easier, go online  - and change your beneficiary to the Festival, designating a dollar amount or percentage of your retirement account.

Benefits

  • IRA distributions made directly to the Festival will not be treated as taxable income.
  • You can modify your IRA beneficiary if your circumstances change.
  • A gift to the Festival is tax-free, and this amount may reduce the estate tax burden on your heirs.

"The Festival has become a part of my family. As with my other family members, I want to leave them a Legacy gift to keep my spirit alive when I’m not here to do that in person."
Thomas S. Griggs, Jr. Legacy Society Member

Make a Legacy Gift through a bequest in your will:

  • Contact your attorney and/or financial advisor to designate a Legacy gift amount (see our helpful Took Kit below).
  • Your assets remain in your control during your lifetime.
  • You can modify your bequest if your circumstances change.
  • You can direct your bequest to a particular purpose, or make an unrestricted gift that allows the Festival to direct your gift.
  • There is no upper limit on the estate tax deductions that can be taken for charitable bequests, and any gift amount may reduce the estate tax burden on your heirs.

When creating any estate gift for the Festival, we encourage you to speak with your legal and financial advisors.
