Every once in a while, amidst the swarms of experienced Festival-goers who pass through our lovely establishment, the Info Booth welcomes a different kind of guest. They are drawn to our brightly colored tent by some unknown force - or perhaps it is the smiling faces of our wonderful volunteers sporting their signature blue t-shirts that entices them. Hesitantly, they pick up a festival program and stare at it perplexedly, as they take in the information on the pages. After a few minutes of rummaging through, they finally ask,

 “So…what’s going on here?”

After having spent many days watching this Festival light up the city of New Haven, it is at first hard for me to believe that there are still some people, even New Haven residents themselves, that have yet to be exposed to the magic of the Arts & Ideas Festival. It is in these moments that I and our Festival volunteers are more than happy to shed some light on this most important happening that takes place every two weeks in June.

Although this is only the second year I have been involved with Arts & Ideas, this Festival’s electric spirit has enveloped me fully - further emphasizing my belief in the power of the arts to inspire, heal, and dazzle. Over these past two Festivals I have happily watched families come together on sunny days and starry nights to enjoy music from around the world. Even on the rainiest of days, spirits are not dampened; in fact, we strongly support a dance in the rain every now and then.

So we at the Info Booth welcome all who inquire to know more about the Festival, because we all agree that it is something that just cannot be missed.
