I was in Dublin last week to see some performances as part of the Dublin Dance Festival, and I saw a few very interesting pieces, some of which were solo dance performances that used heritage Irish dance forms, such as step, as their basic movement motif even though the concept of the dance was very contemporary.

Festival Founders Honored During Ceremonies at State House
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas' three founders - Ann Tyler Calabresi , Jean Handley and Roslyn Milstein Meyer -- were honored by the Gov. M. Jodi Rell as Distinguished Arts Advocates for their itreless volunteer service on behalf of the Festival and other arts organizations in the state.
Workshops Continue Creation of Arts & Ideas Dance Project
The Liz Lerman Dance Exchange is holding workshops for "613 Radical Acts of Prayer." Free and open to the public, these workshops allow anyone interested to participate in the performance piece scheduled for this year's Festival. This piece goes beyond dance to explore the nature of prayer and social action.

U.K., Irish Dramas Set For New Haven Arts Fest
Two European theater companies will present the American premiere of their productions at Arts & Ideas. The Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company brings to the stage "Burial at Thebes," June 14 to 19.
