Ely Center of Contemporary Art

Artist Workspace Residency Program

Meet ECOCA artists-in-residence participating in a workspace residency that runs from June 8 to July 22. Engage with the artists, learn about their inspiration and overall artistic practice while meandering through the John Slade Ely House Galleries, an Elizabethan mansion turned art center that was home to John Slade and Grace T. Ely, who came to New Haven in 1897. The house, built in 1905 by S. G. Taylor, was left in Trust as a public art center in 1961 and has continued to be a synergistic charge for the expression, engagement, and germination of culture makers and their audiences by fostering a vibrant, just, and healthy creative community for the public.
