Help Create the Festival's Ideas Series

Participatory events and conversations with vital thinkers on the subject of democracy

“The role of the artist is to make the revolution irresistible.” —Toni Cade Bambara

Please join us in creating this year's Ideas series for the 25th annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Elizabeth Nearing, curator of Ideas programming, and Bobby Asher, director of programming, are reimagining the Ideas series of events that run throughout the June Festival. These participatory events and conversations with vital thinkers delve into the most pressing topics in New Haven’s community and beyond.

This June, the Ideas series will be called DEMOCRACY: WE THE PEOPLE, and will inspire conversation, spark civic action, and build community. To create a series for our community, we need to create it with our community. We need you. You are a catalyst in your community, engaged in shaping our city.

Please join us for one of our two-hour community brainstorming sessions. We'll invite you to share what democracy means to you, what's happening around this theme in New Haven, and the questions we should be asking as—together—we craft a series of events that that are of, by, and for our city.
