Kayak from Dover Beach launch along the Quinnipiac River, discovering oyster farms and birdwatching spots along the way. Then stop at Fair Haven Oyster Company, where you’ll sample local oysters and sip tasty drinks before paddling back to the Dover Beach launch. Fair Haven Oyster Company is the latest culinary collaboration between Tavern on State’s Shane McGowan and 2021’s CT Restaurant Association Chef of the Year Emily Mingrone.

New Haven Department of Youth & Recreation

The New Haven Youth and Recreation Department is offering canoe, kayak and paddleboarding tours in New Haven parks. No previous experience is necessary and basic instructions, equipment and certified instructors will be available throughout the tour. Each trip is managed and guided by staff and all instructors are ACA certified. Explore the water, the parks, the wildlife and more on this tour.
