The dance is moving around you. You’re moving around the dance. On June 28, the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange and hundreds of citizen-dancers performed together as part of the Festival’s Grand Finale, the final act of 613 Radical Acts of Prayer. New Haven’s historic Center Church on-the-Green and United Church on the Green gave venerable context to a series of theatrical offerings. Then, the audience joined the parade– roller skates alongside bamboo prayer flags– to the Lower Green. There, dances, blessings and social actions culminated in the Dance Exchange-led community performance, conceived specifically for the New Haven Green. On that night, the audience was welcomed to participate by moving, speaking and eventually dancing together. Here you can witness the electricity of that magical evening.
