COVID-19 Protocols & Public Safety

We are excited to welcome you to the New Haven Green for a limited series of in-person events!

As we plan for in-person programming this year, we remain committed to the safety of our patrons and employees. To this end, we have developed this series of guidelines to make sure that your Festival experience will be safe and healthy.

If you are not comfortable attending in-person events, we are happy to share that the majority of our in-person events will also be streamed live on Facebook Live, YouTube, Twitch, and our Virtual Stage.

For tours and food events not occurring on the Green, the Festival will work with our business and restaurant partners to ensure that COVID-19 Safety Protocols are enforced.

Storytelling events occurring in Park of the Arts will follow the same COVID protocols as those outlined for the Green.

For more information on COVID-19, please visit the "Connecticut COVID-19 Response" page on Connecticut's Official State Website. Thank you for your help and patience as we all get used to a new normal in our return to concerts and events. We are here to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.

PLEASE NOTE: RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL IN-PERSON EVENTS. Reservations can be made online at artidea.org or through the Box Office. The Box Office can be reached by phone at (203) 498-3771 from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday or by email at BoxOffice@artidea.org.

  • HOW WE DEVELOPED THESE GUIDELINES. This safety program complies with federal, state, and local regulations, with particular emphasis on safety protocols to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 in accordance with recommendations by the CDC. We developed these guidelines using current information available on COVID-19; industry white papers and guidelines set forth by federal, state and local governments; advice of industry professional with on-stage experience; public health experts; and with guidance from our COVID Compliance Company, Safe Set LA.

  • WE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR & ADAPT. The Festival continues to work closely with the relevant authorities and safety measures will be constantly monitored and adjusted according to the requirements. If at any point federal, state, or local guidelines become more strict than the safety measures outlined here, the Festival will adjust to whichever directives are most strict.

  • FESTIVAL COVID COMPLIANCE TEAM. Our COVID Compliance Team (CCT) will oversee, schedule, & coordinate COVID Compliance across the multi-event production. In addition, we plan to have COVID Compliance Managers (CCM) and COVID Assistants trained and engaged throughout the course of the Festival (on-site and behind the scenes) to monitor events, ensure the following of protocols, and answer questions. We will also be regularly disinfecting spaces to create a safer, cleaner, and healthier environment throughout programming.
  • PREVENTION PRACTICES. Our artists and staff will maintain gold standard infection prevention practices within and outside the workplace for the duration of their participation with the Festival. They must strictly adhere to physical distancing guidelines, use face coverings when in public, avoid hand to eyes and/or mouth contact, maintain proper respiratory and hand hygiene, and self-monitor for COVID symptoms.
  • RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. Reservations are required for all in-person events and can be made online at artidea.org or through the Box Office. The Box Office can be reached by phone at (203) 498-3771 from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday or by email at BoxOffice@artidea.org.

  • SOCIALLY DISTANCED SEATING. Pods will be available with a 4-person capacity in a socially distanced layout and are able to be reserved through the Box Office. The Box Office can be reached by phone at (203) 498-3771 from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday or by email at BoxOffice@artidea.org.

  • ENTRY SCREENING. Every visitor will be given an on-site Health Questionnaire as well as a non-contact Temperature Check. You will have to complete these checks before you are allowed onto the Festival grounds.

  • TRAFFIC FLOW. Whenever possible, we will use one-way directional movement to prevent bottlenecking and crowd pooling in causeways and common areas. Ground markings and signage will remind people of 6ft distancing and guide pedestrian flow throughout the performance area.

  • USE FACE COVERINGS AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE). A face mask must be worn at all times in and around all festival venues. This applies to both adults and to children 2 years of age and older. Masks with one-way vents and gaiters will not be allowed.

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING. Please remember to stay at least 6ft apart from anyone not in your own pod.
  • DISINFECTING CREW. A Disinfecting Crew of infection prevention experts will be focused on creating a safer, cleaner and healthier environment on the Green. This may include, but is not limited to, front of the house areas (hospitality tents, information desks, gates, check-in tables, spectator seating areas, etc.), backstage areas, bathrooms, eating zones, check-in stations, stage, lighting/sound mixing area, etc.

  • BATHROOMS. Festival organizers will make every effort to ensure the bathrooms are routinely cleaned and disinfected throughout the event. Professional disinfecting crews will use a combination of wipe-down processes and electrostatic sprayers to make sure that all high touch points and common areas are sanitized.
