Personal Essay – Diamond Davis

As I walk down the streets of my neighborhood, I see a lot of crimes being committed. Living in a neighborhood where there’s nothing but violence makes you think about changing your life around. If I had to choose one person that influenced me to do my best living, it is my mother. The same reason why she gave birth to me is the same reason why I give thanks that she is still here.

The people who are most important to me are God, my family, and my friends. I can’t live without my mother because of the simple fact that I love her too much and she means the world to me. Even though I have a lot of relatives that have my back, I can’t depend on them like I can depend on my mother.

My life is like an expedition; sometimes I go through my mind like a rollercoaster and also like a journey through the canyons of Arizona. I heard this quote saying, “My life is mine, your life is yours.” My life concerns my mother and my siblings. I think about the times I thought about being alone with my family. When I was little, I used to think that I would have a lot of support when I got older and to my surprise, I have so much support I’m ready to just let go of the people who are holding me back.

When I graduate high school, I plan to go into the Air Force because it would give me a chance to become more disciplined. I try not to think about the dangerous issues (like having to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan), but instead, focus on how the Air Force is going to give me the training and skills to help me improve my life.

Overall, I’m thankful for the times with my family and the time I give to the people who love me.
