The Hartford Dance Collective

Five female choreographers collaborate in creating new contemporary works to present to the public, using historical figures and feminine art, circling around a theme of female empowerment, leadership, and strength.

The opportunity to perform "Dancing in the Streets" is a way to connect intimately with audiences, as opposed to creating boundaries. We believe that engaging our audience and showing them movement they can understand and relate to is really important for our community. In the world we are living in today, it is more important now, then ever, to find expression through movement.

The Hartford Dance Collective aims to empower women to have a voice and an equal opportunity in dance by providing choreographic and leadership opportunities. By sharing professional contemporary dance with new audiences and providing performances in diverse locations, we work to bridge the gap between the arts and our community. We have shared dance at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Riverfront Recapture, ShapeShifter Lab, Real Art Ways, TheaterWorks Hartford, Yardgoats Stadium, multiple breweries around the Connecticut, to name a few; and we aim to continue to share the art form with all walks of life.
