Khalilah L. Brown-Dean

Dr. Khalilah (Ka-Lie-La) L. Brown-Dean is an award-winning scholar, visionary community leader, and the author of Identity Politics in the United States. She is University Professor and Executive Director of the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life at Wesleyan University.

A preeminent expert on voting rights, mass incarceration, and elections, she co-authored the report "50 Years of the Voting Rights Act" for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. Brown-Dean is the host of the popular Connecticut Public Radio program and podcast, DISRUPTED, a 2024 Gracie Award Winner for Best Talk Show and a 2024 PMJA Award for Best Interview. Her work on justice and civic engagement was honored by the Connecticut Women's Hall of Fame in 2021.
